Ponte de Lima was paid a visit by various nationalities who are part of the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Art and Tourism, under the 23rd Meeting Platform of the Institute, which aims to empower the local communities, increasing awareness of the importance of protecting and promoting the local cuisine, culture, art pieces and natural goods, as part of sustainable and balanced tourism, according to development strategies.

During the 29th and 30th of November, the group visited the Ponte de Lima's  Historical Center, the Interpretation and Promotion of Vinho Verde Center and tried the enogastronomic products of Ponte de Lima, discovering the singularity present in our traditional cuisine e culture as a way to secure a more sustainable future for our town.

The meeting defined key actions for the platform and debate on various topics, that stimulate the preservation of the regional products, making Ponte de Lima one of the host regions.

Minho was awarded in 2016 by the IGCAT as the European Region of Gastronomy.
