Ponte de Lima was elected as the "Gastronomical Destination of the year" by the "Oscars of wine and gastronomy" in Portugal. In the 25th edition of the "The Best of the Year", promoted by the Revista Vinhos, a number of projects and personalities were awarded, with emphasis on the award given to Ponte de Lima.

On the night when the best of gastronomy and wine were awarded the title, Ponte de Lima was also awarded as the "Gastronomical Destination of the year", "for its diversity and quality of local cuisine".

For the Vice-President of Ponte de Lima's City Hall, Paulo Sousa, this distinction is proof of the investment and effort of hundreds of businessmen and wine producers, who contribute for the promotion of tourism and economy of the oldest town in Portugal.

The director of Revista Vinhos, Nuno Guedes Vaz Pires, says: "The Revista Vinhos' awards are a compliment for the best in the sector: the people and projects, which makes us go even further beyond, as a country."
