10 Nov 2021 Dialogue Garden, the most voted by the public on the International Gardens Festival in Ponte de Lima 2021
"Jardim do Diálogo", or Dialogue Garden, is the garden with most votes from the public of the 2021 edition International Gardens Festival in Ponte de Lima, whose theme was "Religion in the Gardens".

"Jardim do Diálogo", reached 34,6% of the public's preference and represents "symbols of dialogue and mutual respect between different religions around the world". "The garden is divided in 7 spaces and each represents the 7 most widespread religions of the entire world". You can visit the Islamic garden, christian garden, jewish garden, taoist garden, hindu garden, budist garden and the ethnic garden. The individual gardens are simplifications intended for every project of a specific garden. In reality, every style is much more complex, but we only use the main symbols, basic elements and unique vegetation to demonstrate the different styles.

Every garden is separated from one another by a wooden fence. The main characterisc of those fences is that they are incompelete, this way the gardens aren't completely separated. This symbolizes the ideals and common values shared by all religions.

The central part of this garden shows an element present in every religion, which they had or still have in common. The Holy Tree. We can find these Holy Trees all around the world. There are trees which represent life and connection to God (Nature) and the human being. Those trees were complimented by their spiritual, mystical and bioenergetic aspects. There was too, the Eden Tree. It exists different species of Holy Trees, but for our garden, we chose the olive tree as a symbol of peace.

Another element shared by different religions is the place of contemplation of God. Every garden is composed of a place to sit, pray or to relax with a view to the olive tree. Every garden style has a different way of sitting, which represents specific cultural customs.

The second most voted garden, with 13,9%, comes from Italy. "Pandora's Box" made by three architets: Sandro Del Lesto; Silvia Giuffrida and Martina Pappalardo, and refers us to the parable of Adam and Eve who "ate the forbidden fruit, forever resigning Eden". "Zeus trusted the box to Pandora, telling her to keep it closed forever. But, pulled by her own curiosity, Pandora disobeyed Zeus and, by opening the box, she set free all the evil in the world. Before opening the box, just like Adam and Eve, Humanity would be free from evil, work and discrimination: Man was imortal like the Gods. After opening the Pandora's Box, the world became desolated place, dark and inhospitable.

Under the project School's Garden Festival which took place at the same time, the most voted garden by the jury was "The Guardian Angel's Prayer", made by the Brandara's kindergarten, Group of schools of Arcozelo, by educator Gabriela Amorim.
The School's Garden Festival has increasingly assumed a decisive role in promoting and sensitize the gardening arts and environmental problems to the school community.

"Dialogue Garden" as the most voted garden, keeps its spot for the next edition of the International Gardens Festival, in 2022 with the theme: "Climate Change".
