Alto Minho was nominated for the "TOP 100 Green Destinations 2021", award which recognizes local and regional destinations that have been implementing sucessful strategies for a more sustainable tourist activity.

Alto Minho's candidancy was submitted by the Intercity Community of Alto Minho, which aggregates the municipalities of Arcos de Valdevez, Caminha, Melgaço, Monção, Paredes de Coura, Ponte da Barca, Ponte de Lima, Valença, Viana do Castelo and Vila Nova de Cerveira, a total area of 2210 km2.

The Municipality of Ponte de Lima continues to actively work for territory sustainability making use of various projects, with emphasis on the Protected Landscape Area of Lagoas de Bertiandos and S.Pedro d'Arcos and Pentieiros Pedagogical Farm, Aldeias da Mesa dos 4 Abades Interpretation Center and the application for the creation of the "Protected Regional Landscape Area of Serra d'Arga", among others.
