Besides civil architecture, in which the Baroque stands out next to other styles due to a number of precious examples, religious architecture has had several interventions during the Baroque period, even though one can learn from the influence of other styles and decorative languages such as Gothic or Mannerism as well as, as mentioned previously in this publication, from the Romanesque. The Church of Nossa Senhora da Boa-Morte, in Correlhã, dating from the transition of 12th to the 13th century, identified as a pilgrimage church, is one of the best architectonic examples to help us see the evolution between Mannerism and Baroque, as all its planning is Mannerist and the decoration is already based on the next artistic school. The presbytery, with its gilded woodcarving work of the altarpiece is one of the most valuable Baroque examples in Northern Portugal due to its imaginary originality.

In the parish of Labruja the sanctuary of Nosso Senhor do Socorro emerges as the only building, whose construction started in 1773, that connects the monumental church to a not less important stairway and its involving structures, especially the community ovens in which goats and chickens were roasted on the date of pilgrimage.
