The streets of the historic center of Ponte de Lima are covered in flowery carpets on the day of the celebration of the Corpus Christi. The tradition of decorating the streets for the procession emerged at the beginning of the 18th century and, year after year, it relies on the commitment and devotion of Limianos who, moved by faith, work tirelessly all night, filling the streets with color and beauty giving form to the itinerary of the procession. To give shape and color to the designs, the molds are filled with sawdust, flowers and bush branches, transforming the streets into true works of art that dazzle the eyes of visitors.
