Freiria Manor House is located in the square of the same name. The origin of the term comes from the French freire, which is the same as brother or relative or friar.

According to Father Carvalho da Costa in 1706, as previously mentioned by Manuel Gomes Lima Bezerra, Freiria Square took its name, from the formerly known residence of the Knights Templar Freyres.

To corroborate this theory, and despite the presence of eighteenth-century architecture with subsequent dismounts and arrangements in the House of Freiria, there is a monolithic grave of the medieval period, found in the yard when, a few years ago, the then owners pulled out a chestnut tree.

Still inside the yard of this site, and bordering with the municipal road, is the chapel of Saint Bartholomew whose carvings recalls models of the time of Nazoni and Carlos Amarante. Once the wine production was resumed at Freiria Manor House at the hands of the Vieira Lisbon family, the Loureiro grape variety was once again launched.
