Dating back to 1826, the Feiras Nova are nationally known, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. 

The Feiras Novas transmit the joy and spontaneity of the people. All throughout the town, music, concertinas, cantares ao desafio (improvised singing challenges), folklore and local food together makes this festival into a singular and unforgettable event, a romaria, a pilgrimage that is considered to be the "largest live congress of culture in Portugal”.
