Visiting Calvelo, in the county that is home to the headquarters of the village of Ponte de Lima, is an experience that appeals to the senses.

On the journey to the parish where the wines of the Bougainvilles Manor House are produced, there is an abundance of hues of green that the natural landscape offers in a long and serene embrace for the traveler who arrives from Galicia or Porto, in a singular poetic picture of grateful memory.  

Calvelo is located at the root of the Mount of Saint Veríssimo, south of the county. The parish church, oncea Benedictine convent and later a secular abbey, is situated at the foot of an elevation where Boavista Farm is situated, also known as Casa das Bougainvíliea Manor House .

The vineyards that outline the property are distributed harmoniously along the hillside, shaped by the rigor of the best technological and viticultural practices. At the top of the farm, as in a belvedere that gazes upon the expanse of the valley, is the house that gives name to the wine, draped in generous branches of bougainvillea at its highest elevation.

The successive harvests of the brand have been awarded in several competitions, among them the 1st Prize for Vinho Verde Loureiro in the 4th Vinho Verde Competition of Ponte de Lima, the Silver Medal of the Brussels World Contest 2011 for Vinho Verde, the 2nd Vinho Verde Loureiro Prize in the 10th Vinho Verde Competition of Ponte de Lima and the 2nd Vinho Verde Award of the same competition, among other distinctions.
