Description
Ponte de Lima is a compulsory passage point for all pilgrims who year after year follow the Portuguese Route of Santiago.
Crossing the Roman bridge is one of the most important symbolic marks along the way. By the end of the middle ages, it was the only safe place to cross the River Lima. A few metres from the bridge is the pilgrims’ inn, one of the best places to stay along the entire route. It provides pilgrims with everything they need, including a kitchen, dining room, laundry, living room and free Internet access. With modest prices, it is a comfortable and economical option for resting the body and preparing the mind to continue the walk. After resting, the journey continues up the steep slopes of Serra da Labruja, passing by crosses and shrines.
The trails are well marked with the unmistakable yellow arrows as far as Santiago de Compostela. On the way, it is common to find pilgrims coming in the opposite direction, heading towards Fátima. To follow this path is a unique experience. The Routes of Santiago reinvigorate the soul in total communion with nature! Capacity up to 60 people.
