ITER VITIS is a Cultural Route of Vineyards in Europe classified as a Cultural Route of the European Council, whose main objective is the promotion of the cultural, historical and landscape heritage associated with quality wine.

Recently, a working meeting was held in Ponte de Lima between the Municipality of Ponte de Lima, represented by the Councillor for Tourism, Paulo Sousa, General Secretary of the Iter Vitis Network, Emanuela Panke and the Secretary General of the Association of Portuguese Municipalities of Wine, José Arruda. The meeting that took place at the CIPVV – Centre for Interpretation and Promotion of Vinho Verde, aimed at showcasing the infrastructures and all the potential that Ponte de Lima has to host the headquarters of the Iter Vitis Network. It was agreed that a "Iter Vitis Congress" would be organized which aims to bring together representatives of the 18 countries that make up this network, to be held in Ponte de Lima, on March 4, 2018.

In Ponte de Lima the idea is to take advantage of the Ways of St. James for the Iter Vitis Route, as well as the pilgrims’ hostel which would serve as "Domus of the Iter Vitis Network - The Roads of the Vine". The objective is the development of wine tourism through the valorization of the cultural, material and immaterial heritage, of the gastronomy and of our territory associated to the vineyards as well as the wine.
