Centre for Interpretation and Promotion of Vinho Verde wins award at Best of Wine Tourism Awards 2018
The Centre for Interpretation and Promotion of Vinho Verde (CIPVV), based in Ponte de Lima, has just won a prize in the prestigious Best of Wine Tourism Awards 2018.
This is an annual International competition awarded by the Great Global Vineyards’ Network which aims to reward excellence and the best practices in wine tourism in seven different categories.
By deliberation of the Jury assigned to the Douro, Porto and Vinhos Verdes region the Centre for Interpretation and Promotion of Vinho Verde won the Arts and Culture category.
The winners of the other categories are also below mentioned:
Accommodation: Carmo's Boutique Hotel;
Wine Restaurants: Cais da Villa Restaurant;
Architecture and Landscape: Casa do Rio - Quinta do Vallado;
Innovative Experiences in Wine Tourism: Calém Wineries;
Wine Tourism Services: Cooltour Oporto;
Sustainable Winemaking Practices: Monverde Wine Experience Hotel.
Among these winners, a Global winner will also be named by decision of the International Jury of the Best of Wine Tourism Awards, which will be held next November in Valparaíso, Chile, at the Annual General Meeting of the Great Global Vineyards’ Network.
The mission of the Centre for Interpretation and Promotion of Vinho Verde is to promote research on the total wealth in a dynamic way, fostering the Vinho Verde associated to its specific land as a product of excellence. The objectives of this space are to start several research projects within the history of the region of Vinho Verdes; to involve producers and other economic agents in the dissemination of this wine as a unique product in the world and of great quality; to reach the Portuguese and foreign public by letting the know the excellence of the product; and promote the knowledge of the region and the Vinho Verdes together.
