With the aim of increasing the study of the history of Ponte de Lima and promoting the safeguard, appreciation and publication of the archive's patrimony, this archive provides security for institutional and collective memory. The collective digitization and online publication of part of its collection in complete text have been completed in the last few years. 

Although information is more and more in digital form, it is the role of the Municipal Archive of Ponte de Lima to continue managing the memory of the past and the present, keeping it available in the future, thus aiming to overcome the traditional function of safeguarding historical heritage and also assuming a role in contributing to improve the quality of service to citizens.
